Pop went the Tech Bubble

Ten years ago today, the tech stock bubble reached its peak before popping as all bubbles do. On the way home today, I listened to BBC World News tonight (by the way, radio is by far my favorite form of journalism!) as they did an entire series on tech in the last 10 years.

Although none of the fascinating stories pointed to the tech impact of education, I can't help but see parrallels. The stock market was so blinded by the shiny new possibilites of the internet and went crazy while ignoring the research. Educators also have to slow down and look at the big picture. And like the tech stocks, once the frenzy was over, the stocks slowly rebuilt, much like how education is slowly building its own stock of technology.

If President Obama acheives his goal of making broadband available to anyone in the country, education's stock could significantly rise!
